A well-fleeted dream that had real setbacks and now throttling that dream to reality
Hey everyone, your friendly neighbourhood tech blogger here! For a while now, I’ve been talking about a big game about projects, skills, and that elusive dream career. But lately, it’s felt like I’m drowning in a sea of “I want to”s without actually swimming anywhere. That to-do list is a mental monster, and it’s time to slay the beast.
So, here’s my official declaration of war on unfinished projects and the ever-growing mountain of “いつか (itsuka – someday)” dreams. It’s time to prioritize.
1. Project Payoff: First things first, I’m tackling those unfinished projects. They’re a mental debt holding me back, and it’s time for some serious code clean-up. From dusty prototypes to half-written blog posts, it’s completion time.
2. Saving Savvy: This month’s food bill was a wake-up call. Those late-night takeout runs fueled by coding marathons need to stop. Time to learn how to budget like a boss. Bigger dreams, like that software bootcamp payoff, require some serious saving strategies. Gotta put my money where my future is!
3. Skill Sharpening: It’s not just about finishing old projects, it’s about starting new ones with a sharper Skillset. Brushing up on the latest frameworks and diving deeper into areas I’ve been neglecting is key. Time to transform from a blogger who dabbles in code to a true tech pro.
4. Starting Strong: Enough with the “I want to”s! It’s time to just start. That game idea bouncing around in my head? Let’s get prototyping. New hobbies I’ve been eyeing? Let’s give them a shot. Sometimes the biggest hurdle is simply taking that first step.
5. Building My Online Empire: My current online presence is a bit of a blank slate. Blog posts are great, but they don’t showcase my coding chops. Time to revamp my portfolio with real projects. And that YouTube channel I’ve been putting off? It’s happening! Maybe a touch of self-consciousness comes with hitting “record,” but the rewards of building a tech persona far outweigh the initial awkwardness. Plus, who knows, maybe a website dedicated to my more casual tech adventures is in the cards too!
I’ve always been a bit of a hobbyist. Learning Japanese for fun was a blast, and diving into game theory was intellectually stimulating. But looking back, those hobbies felt more like distractions than building blocks. It’s time to rekindle that spark, but with a purpose. I want to apply the same level of dedication to these passions, turning them into tangible skills or projects.
August is my official breakthrough month. No more excuses, no more procrastination. It’s time to bite the bullet and actually do the things I’ve been putting off. Once I have a solid foundation of completed projects and a revamped online presence, its job hunting time. I know, I know. The idea of sending out resumes makes me snicker in fear, but I’m determined to overcome this last hurdle.
I’ve come a long way. Graduating from a software bootcamp was a tremendous step, and moving from New Zealand to Australia, even relocating within the country, was a bold move. I’ve faced countless setbacks, from financial struggles to a complete lack of direction. But through it all, I’ve learned and grown. A massive thank you to my amazing friends for supporting me during these challenging months.
I’m ready to bounce back stronger than ever. The only way is up from here.
Oh, and I can’t forget about my old “State of the Week” series. It was a fun way to share my thoughts and experiences, but it got lost in the shuffle. I think it’s time to revive it and give it a fresh start on my portfolio website. It’ll be a great way to connect with new readers and showcase my writing skills.
Let’s do this!
