Daily writing prompt
How would you describe yourself to someone?

Dedicating the time of day for the sake of ambition.

Hey everyone, your friendly neighbourhood tech blogger here! Today’s post is a little different. Usually, I’m diving into the latest gadgets or breaking down some complex software. But this time, I want to talk about…me.

Let’s be honest. How would I describe myself? Here’s the truth:

The Reality Check: Night Shift and Side Hustle Dreams

Lately, this hasn’t been the best recipe for success. Between career setbacks and the reality of, well, needing to pay the bills, I found myself in a bit of a different role: a night shift worker. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with honest work, but let’s just say the current gig isn’t exactly flexing my coding muscles.

Here’s the thing, though: so many techies out there can probably relate. We all have those dreams, those ambitions that fight to stay alive even when the world seems to be pushing us in a different direction.

Making the Most of Limited Time

Life throws things our way. That’s just the nature of the beast. Those long night shifts can leave you feeling drained. But here’s the thing: even a small window is an opportunity. We don’t all have hours to dedicate to side hustles or skill-building.

That’s why I’m embracing the power of focused minutes. Those precious breaks between shifts? Ten minutes of planning and writing a to-do list on my phone can be a significant change. An hour, carving out some focused time to work on a side project or learn a new skill – that’s when the flow kicks in.

The Scariest Part: Building My Presence (as a Techie in Disguise)

Let’s be honest, the thing that terrifies me the most? Networking, especially when you feel like an imposter. It can feel even more intimidating when you’re coming from a completely different world like night shifts. But I know it’s crucial. So, I’m forcing myself to be bold. Online forums, meetups (hopefully some daytime ones!), even reaching out to people I admire in the tech world – it’s all on the table.

The Takeaway: Small Steps, Big Dreams (Even on Night Shift)

This isn’t about becoming boring or ditching my ambition. It’s about channelling that drive into a focused, sustainable path, even with a non-tech job. The tech blogger achieves success not just by chasing the latest trend, but by building a solid foundation for their journey, brick by focused brick, even when they lay those bricks at night.

So, that’s me – ambitious, a little stubborn (okay, maybe a lot!), working on becoming more focused and invested, all while rocking a night shift job. Join me on this journey, because honestly, the tech world (or any world you want to conquer!) is way more interesting when you have a plan, and the dedication to make it happen, even in ten-minute bursts.
