What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

My Mental Energy wanes when I have my resting days, but my passion still burns… oh and the today’s question inheriting tradition.

Hi everyone, today’s post tackles a question many of us face: “What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?”

In my case, it’s the relentless go-getter spirit my parents embodied in their careers. They built a life in a new country, facing challenges head-on. Here’s the thing: I haven’t quite inherited that unwavering dedication to execution… yet.

I, on the other hand, am a total visionary. I’m constantly road-mapping the next big thing, brimming with ideas. I even had detailed plans – a future carefully mapped out. But the follow-through? That’s where things get a little… sticky.

My mom, bless her soul, was a master of long-term planning. Dad? A champion of getting things done, right now. Together, they were a dream team. Me? Stuck in the middle, overflowing with ideas but paralyzed by a sense of overwhelming inertia. Sound familiar?

This post started as more than just procrastination. It was a way to avoid the truth: it’s time to stop bouncing around and make my mark in the tech industry. This whole “getting by” thing? Not the future I envisioned when I crossed borders.

Here’s the declaration: I’m done with the dream-chasing without the action. Let’s be honest, it’s been a journey filled with setbacks. Financially, things haven’t always been easy. And even though I proudly hold a software bootcamp diploma, I haven’t been able to translate that into the kind of showcase-worthy projects I know I’m capable of. It’s frustrating, sure, but right now, I’m focusing on the positive.

The good news? I’m getting there. While my mental energy might fluctuate, the desire to bridge this gap between dreams and reality is stronger than ever. Recent investment successes allow me to finally focus beyond just survival. This means saving and investing in my future – a future where I can use my skills and passion to build something meaningful. Skill-up courses, a career coach – these are just a few ideas I’m transforming into reality.

Here’s the exciting part: This blog isn’t just about me. I’m using it as a structured think tank and a platform to hold myself accountable. Think of it as a project showcase in the making. As I gain momentum and refine my skills, this space will become a testament to my journey.

There’s a silver lining, though. While I haven’t mastered the execution piece yet, I can find solace in the fact that I did inherit at least one valuable trait from my parents: their adaptability. They thrived in a new environment, and that’s exactly what I’m aiming to do now. As I evolve as a person, I plan to leverage this adaptability to navigate the challenges and opportunities the tech industry presents.

Here’s your call to action:

Remember, the tech world thrives on passionate visionaries with the drive to make things happen. Let’s bridge that gap between dreams and reality, together. Now, get out there and make it happen!
