Knowing when to unplug is key on its own for mindfulness

Anyone else feeling like their tech career is stuck in an infinite loop? Here I am, drowning in to-do lists and feeling burnt out with nothing to show for it. Seriously, where’s the “substantial projects” section on my resume? (Spoiler alert: it’s currently a gaping hole.)

The worst part? I can’t even decide what I want to focus on next. Is it the complete lack of ideas or the soul-crushing idea paralysis that’s killing my motivation? Either way, I’m stuck staring at a blank screen, feeling like a deflated balloon.

And let’s not even get started on finances. Upskilling sounds amazing, but my bank account is currently channelling its inner minimalist. Guess fancy online courses are out for now.

Okay, deep breaths. Panicking never solved anything. Maybe a detour isn’t such a bad thing after all. Time to reboot, recharge, and figure out a new direction. Here’s the thing, the biggest clue that it’s time to unplug is this constant feeling of being stuck. You know, that icky dread that creeps in every time you open your laptop.

That’s when I know I need to take a drastic step. Unplugging is my compile key. It forces me to hit pause, refresh my perspective, and hopefully, come back with a renewed sense of purpose.

Remember that week I spent glued to my screen, fueled by questionable snacks and questionable amounts of coffee? Yeah, that wasn’t exactly my finest coding moment. My brain felt like a cluttered hard drive, and creativity? Oh, it had gone straight to the recycle bin.

That’s when I knew I needed a drastic change. Here’s what I did to unplug and recharge:
