Learning to take care of myself during my quest for a new career.
Hey everyone,
Today’s question hits close to home, especially for those of us navigating career changes. While my day job may not involve coding, I spend my nights pursuing my tech dream. So, how do I stay sane (and energised) in this in-between zone?
The Recharge Trio: Music, Hobbies, and Sleep
- Music is My Muse: Cranking up some tunes is my go-to stress reliever. Whether it’s coding jams or pure brain candy, music helps me focus, unwind, and tap into that creative flow.
- Hobbies for the Win: Remember that neglected hobby shelf? Dust it off! For me, reading has made a glorious return. Getting lost in a good book is a fantastic escape from the tech world and keeps my mind sharp differently.
- Sleep, Glorious Sleep: You might have seen me ranting about sleep in another post, and here it is again! There’s a reason for that. A well-rested mind is a coding machine (or a job-hunting dynamo). Prioritizing sleep is non-negotiable for me.
Bonus Tip: Find Your Community
While my self-care routine is personal, connecting with other tech hopefuls is a tremendous help. Finding online forums, attending meetups (virtual or in-person!), or grabbing coffee with a fellow coder can boost your spirits and keep you motivated.
Remember, self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Taking care of yourself will better equip you to tackle those coding challenges and land that dream tech job.
