A New Chapter Begins
Six months of scrubbing greasy kitchen canopies and ducts had left me feeling physically exhausted and mentally drained. The monotony of my job, coupled with the financial strain, had forced me to reevaluate my career path. It was time for a drastic change.
A Leap of Faith: Prioritizing Passion Over Pay
While financial stability is undoubtedly important, I decided to prioritize my passion and pursue a career in software development. The prospect of working with technology, solving complex problems, and creating something tangible was incredibly exciting.
Le Wagon: A Turning Point
My journey began in December 2023 when I graduated from the esteemed Le Wagon software bootcamp. The intensive program equipped me with the necessary tools and knowledge to build a solid foundation in software engineering. Le Wagon provided me with a comprehensive education. I learned the fundamentals of programming languages like Ruby and JavaScript. I also mastered web development frameworks.
Proactive Job Hunting: My New Strategy
To kickstart my job search, I’ve adopted a more proactive approach. I don’t wait passively for opportunities to come my way. Instead, I’m actively seeking out software development roles that match my interests and experience. I’ve been “scouring” job boards. I have also been networking with professionals in the field. Additionally, I am tailoring my resume and cover letters to highlight my skills and accomplishments from Le Wagon.
Leveraging the Le Wagon Alumni Network
As a Le Wagon graduate, I have access to a valuable resource: the Le Wagon alumni network. This community of fellow graduates can provide invaluable support, advice, and networking opportunities. I plan to actively engage with the alumni network, seeking mentorship, sharing experiences, and exploring potential job leads.
Embracing the Unknown
The transition from cleaning greasy kitchen canopies and ducts to software development is undoubtedly a significant leap. However, I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. I’m eager to contribute my unique perspective to the tech industry and make a meaningful impact.
Stay tuned for updates on my job search and the next steps in my coding adventure!
