Time Management optimization starts at a micro level.

Hey everyone, your friendly neighbourhood blogger with a confession (and a plan, as always!). We all know how crucial it is to manage time effectively, especially in the fast-paced world of tech. I’m a total planning pro – to-do lists, schedules, you name it. But putting those plans into action? Let’s just say my execution skills are stuck on dial-up speed in the age of fibre optics.

Let’s face it, my current gig as an industrial cleaner doesn’t exactly foster laser focus. Between the physical demands, the pre-code jitters (gotta land that developer dream job!), and the siren song of distractions (social media, you know I’m talking to you!), sticking to a schedule feels like wrangling a greased pig with oven mitts.

But here’s the thing: I’m not giving up on my tech dreams. I took the plunge and graduated from a software engineering bootcamp. Sure, there were bumps along the road, but that just motivates me more. I’m determined to not only master the art of coding but also the art of time management, especially since my current situation demands a microlearning approach.

See, carving out large chunks of time for self-improvement feels like a luxury I just don’t have. That’s why I’m embracing the power of microlearning bursts. My trusty companion? A well-worn copy of “Learn to Time Management: For Dummies.” Don’t judge! This bad boy is by my side during commutes, on short walks during breaks, or even for a few stolen minutes before bed. Every snatched moment counts towards conquering my time monster!

This microlearning approach extends beyond time management. Reading has always been a passion, but lately, larger novels felt daunting. So, I’m incorporating short stories, articles, and even blog posts (like this one, wink wink) into my daily routine. These bite-sized pieces allow me to indulge in my love for reading while still managing the demands of my busy life.

This blog post is my accountability partner, a chronicle of my journey from time management wannabe to time management ninja, in microlearning bites! Expect tips, tricks, struggles (because let’s be real, that bound to happen), and maybe even some micro-reviews of the books and articles that are helping me on this quest for ultimate productivity.

Wish me luck, everyone. And if you have any microlearning hacks or favorite short reads, hit the comments below! We can all learn from each other on this quest for conquering our time monsters.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. My trusty time management book, bless its well-worn pages, introduced a concept that’s been a real significant change: prioritization. Apparently, planning my day isn’t just about listing everything I need to do, but about tackling the most important tasks first (MITs). The book warns against the dreaded “to-do list pile-up,” where less important tasks stack up on top of the crucial ones, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and accomplished at the same time (not in a good way).

So, the new strategy? Micro-plan my day, identify the MITs for each microlearning session, and conquer those first. This way, I can make significant progress on my goals – even in stolen moments – without feeling buried under a mountain of “should-dos.”

Speaking of conquering goals, there’s a rather conspicuous object staring me down right now as I type this: my bullet journal. It’s perched right here on the edge of my desk, a testament to both my good intentions and… well, let’s just say life got a little out of hand. Sleep has been a luxury, and prioritizing my career change (which is still very much my focus!) felt like steering a ship in a hurricane.

Maybe I’ve been rambling a bit about my career goals. You, the reader, might be thinking, “Give it up already!” But here’s the thing: I’m stubborn. Driven, even. The problem is, that drive has been a bit rudderless lately. It’s like I’ve been in the passenger seat of my life, letting circumstance take the wheel.

Enough is enough. It’s time to grab the wheel, take control, and steer this broken car (me) back in the right direction. And that journey, I believe, starts with mastering this elusive skill of time management. Because let’s face it, with more focused time, I can finally chart a logical course and make some genuine progress towards my developer dreams.

So, the bullet journal is getting a dust-off and a second chance. It’s more than just a to-do list; it’s a chronicle of my intentions and a graveyard for past, less-than-stellar prioritization efforts. (Let’s just say my “to-do list graveyard” is a whole archive box in the closet.) This time, however, things will be different. Armed with my newfound microlearning approach and a ruthless focus on MITs, I’m going to tackle my tasks with laser focus. The bullet journal will become a battleground where I conquer my time monster, one micro-victory at a time.

This is just the beginning, folks. Join me on this journey as I transform from to-do list hoarder to time management ninja. I’ll be sharing my struggles, successes, and any time management wisdom I pick up along the way. Maybe together, we can all conquer our own time monsters and steer our lives in the right direction. Wish me luck!
