In this phase of chasing my software dreams, here’s what I’m learning the hard way:
- Adaptability is survival. Taking a temp gig or tech-adjacent job isn’t failure. It’s a strategy to stay in the game.
- Digital presence matters. A visible developer has better odds in the invisible job market. Build in public.
- Networking is about real relationships. Forget surface-level “connections.” Find community. Build trust.
- Widen your scope. There are multiple roads to a tech job: contract work, freelance, QA, support, and content roles.
- Money talks. Especially in a new country. I left a job that didn’t align with my goals. But now, I need a job that sustains me so I can keep pursuing my actual dream.
- Work should mean something. I don’t want to just work to live — I want my work to feel like part of who I am.
Be stubborn about goals. Be flexible about the path.
This isn’t giving up. It’s evolving.
